Untitled (Dresden) was a site-specific billboard created for the DRESDEN PUBLIC ART VIEW. The billboard displays a manipulated image of the Zwinger, a Rococo palace in Dresden's old town. The palace was mostly destroyed in the carpet bombing raids of 1945, but reconstructed in the 1960's. The German word zwinger can be translated as "the outer ward of a concentric castle" and derives from the Middle German twingen and dwingen, meaning press and oppress, respectively. A slightly curling, cut-out image of the Zwinger's facade has been isolated in the shallow space of the billboard image.
